History Of Photography Timeline

The two events is  photography history that have impacted my life are camera obscuras from the ancient times, they effect my life because they led to the invention of the camera. The second event that effected my life was the calotype because it was the first negative roll of film

Favorite Teacher

My favorite teacher is Mrs. Kohler. I first heard of her when I was a freshman because of avid. My sophomore year she was my avid teacher, she was such an understanding teacher. She always pushed everyone in her class to their limits because she knows that we all had the brains to do it. She always did everything she could to be able to help us. She always provided us with the materials we needed to be successful.

Now is am a senior and I have her for IB English. If I’m being completely honest at first when she told me to get my English class switched out for IB I didn’t want to because I knew the class would be challenging and I did not want to be under the stress of the class. The reason I decided to take the class was because Mrs. Kohler was the teacher. Now that I am in her class it isn’t challenging its just a lot of work to complete, but Kohler always lets us know that she know that we are capable of doing the work, but we are just lazy. That is my motivation to do my work.

Overall, she will always be my favorite because she makes school a little more interesting, even though her class is ALOTTTTTT.

External Flash Worksheet

  1. You use external flash to gain control over lighting and exposure in a picture.
  2. You do not need to meter when using external flash
  3.  Flash Synchronization is when you open the shutter to let light in
  4. ETTL means to evaluate through the lens and is an auto flash exposure technique.
  5. If you shoot faster than the cameras sync speed your images will not be full captured
  6. Photographers bounce flashes and use diffusers to soften up the image and to spread the harshness
  7. A slave is something that instructs the flash to incoming light
  8. If your image comes out to dark or too light you need to use the exposure lock, and recompose your photo, as well as use your fill in flash.

Read and Write: Introduction to using strobes

Common light modifiers include umbrellas and soft boxes. Reflecting umbrellas create a soft light because of the large size of the umbrella. The light from the strobes bounces off the umbrella and reflects off to the subject. The silver lined umbrellas focus the light narrowly. White umbrellas have a wide spread of light, as the gold ones give warm tones to your subject. Soft boxes are more contained compared to the umbrellas.
